Being Sick

Having been sick for the last week I can finally confirm that I am sick and tired of being ‘sick and tired’ but also need to admit that I have no one to blame for it becoming as bad as it dd than myself.

It all started when shortly of her return from visiting her mom in Zimbabwe, my mother in law started with a Cold or Flu (just and aside here, what’s the difference between the two?). From mom in law possibly is the source of our little one getting it (all 10 and a half months of him) who then passed it on to my wife and I. It is amazing how easily this all gets past round.

Here is my tip though. When you feel you are coming down with something, take it easy and if at all possible, that a day off to recover. If you keep pressing yourself like I did, you land up making it worse for yourself. I spent Thursday moving furniture down stairs for an event that evening and getting home in the cool air at 21:30. Friday I woke at 5am with a sore chest.

It may be mere coincidence or the changes of seasons, that it was nearly two years ago to the day that I Ianded myself in the ER of Olivedale hospital from similar circumstances and waking with chest pain plus pins and needles in my one arm which was to be diagnosed as Pericarditis (a condition where the pericardium or protective sack around the heart becomes inflamed, constricting heart movement).

Thankfully the pain was not as sever this time and I waited till the Medicross opened to see a GP. Diagnosis was not as scary but it was still more than flu, I had pushed myself to bronchitis.

Moral of the story is not to let it get that far. When you feel the sniffles coming, act and take things slower. Better to loose one day than an entire week.
